Mock Codes

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone is completing mock codes in their hospitals. If you are, can you let me know if they are unannounced or planned and how often you are completing them.

Hi Chris,
I coordinate the mock codes here. We do both unannounced and planned. In areas that are populated by mostly techs like CT or MRI, we do a pre-brief to review who will do what and what to expect. In areas that are more clinical like a med surg unit I will often hook a telemetry box to the simulator, name the patient Code,Mock on the monitor and put the patient into a funky rhythm so get a general sense of timing. The goal is to do 2 overhead mock codes a month.

Hello Chris
We do mock codes every month, each month we rotate times so that we hit all shifts and all units. Our codes are unannounced to the staff we do let managers and recourse nurses know we will be coming .
Currently we have pharmacy joining in on the mock codes and trying to get a provider to also attend .
